Information Requirements Made Simple with Plannerly
Observations by Tashayani Ratnakumar, AcePLP Code Checker Squad
Plannerly positions itself as an all-in-one BIM management platform, designed to replace static documents and scattered spreadsheets with structured, collaborative workflows.
This article highlights what we observed while using Plannerly during our automated model checker project and across different BIM management workflows. Our aim is to outline its features, limitations, and practical considerations so that readers, whether BIM Managers, Coordinators, or Modellers, can evaluate how Plannerly fits their specific needs.
At the end, we invite you to share your own ratings and experiences. Your feedback will help build a more balanced picture of how Plannerly performs across the industry.
Setup and Usability
Plannerly’s interface is clean, modern, and modular, with a structure divided into Scopes, Plans, Workflows, and Verify. This made it intuitive to set up projects, define responsibilities, and organize information efficiently.
In our experience, the interface can feel daunting initially. The learning curve may be steep for first-time users, but once familiar with the layout, workflows become easier to manage. Using Plannerly to create our BIM Guide helped reduce version confusion and replaced sprawling Excel trackers with a single, shared source of information.

Collaboration and Verification
Plannerly includes collaboration tools such as comments, notifications, and approval tracking. While these are useful for accountability, they don’t fully replace communication platforms like Teams. In our experience, Plannerly worked best as a structured decision log, with day-to-day discussions happening elsewhere.
The “Verify” module is a thoughtful addition, allowing checks against defined scope. However, it remains basic compared to specialist software like Solibri or Navisworks. For simple validation, it’s a time-saver, but it won’t cover complex rule checks or clash detection. Occasionally, the module also produces odd inaccuracies, though these are usually fixed with a quick refresh or support from the Plannerly team.
We did encounter one more issue where content written directly in Plannerly sometimes disappeared when revisited, which meant rework was required. Because of this, we recommend drafting text externally (e.g., in Word) before inputting it into Plannerly, just to be safe.
That said, the collaboration and verification features remain highly practical for aligning teams and keeping project requirements transparent. Even with some room for improvement, Plannerly provides a structured environment that makes coordination clearer and more reliable which is definitely a solid step forward compared to traditional, document-heavy methods.

BIM Execution Plans (BEPs)
Where Plannerly excels is in handling BIM Execution Plans (BEPs). Traditionally, BEPs become static PDFs which are quickly outdated and often ignored. Plannerly changes that by making them living documents: requirements can be broken into scopes, assigned to teams, and tracked over the course of a project.
For our automated model checker, this was invaluable. Instead of having a guide that sat in a folder, it became a structured framework we could actively map to automated rules and validation logic, creating a dynamic link between planning and project execution.
👉 Do you use Plannerly to manage BEPs? How effective is it in keeping project requirements updated and actionable?
Pricing Overview
Individual Plan (S$51/month)
Team Plan (S$132/month)
Enterprise Options (From S$119/month per project for larger organizations)
The platform’s value lies in the time saved and reduced risk from outdated or misaligned documentation. On larger projects, the benefits of structured, dynamic BEPs become especially clear
For your projects, how do you weigh Plannerly’s pricing against its features and time-saving potential?
